Ol Kinyei bush walk at Porini Mara Camp

Masai Mara Extended Flying Safari

Full Board 4 nights from €2,049 per person

Overview

This flying safari is ideal for anyone wanting just a little longer in the Mara for 4 nights or more for an even greater immersive experience in Kenyas most iconic game park area.

With over 100 properties to choose from in the Mara, it can be a little overwhelming.  That’s why, whilst we can book all of them , we have made the following recommendations of our favourite places to stay.  All vary in comfort level to suit any budget.

We highly recommend staying in conservancies (game areas adjacent to the main Mara Reserve). These areas will showcase the same diversity of wildlife but in a quieter private environment with less vehicles making your experience far more enjoyable. A wider range of activities are also permitted in conservancies such as night drives and bush walks.

Choose from:

  • Porini Camps – Award winning Eco friendly luxury camps based in Conservancies
  • Ol Kinyei Cottages – if you want a little more comfort and solid walls in a Conservancy
  • Ol Seki Hemmingways – a luxury well run camp with a pool in a Conservancy – great for families
  • Elewana Sand River Camp – for a wonderful luxury experience – in the main Mara Reserve

All of these options will include all meals and drinks

This safari operates daily. (GW / GW-TM)

Day 1

Your journey starts at Nairobi Wilson where you will take a morning flight to the Masai Mara dropping you at the most convenient airstrip for your chosen accommodation. You will be met and transferred to your camp in time for lunch, relaxation and then an afternoon game drive with a sundowner.  Back to camp for dinner and over night

Day 2

Morning and afternoon game drives will get you exploring further within the National Reserve or Conservancy.  All meals will be at your chosen accommodation.

Day 3

This is the ideal day for a balloon safari if you are considering that.  You will have a very early start to get you to the balloon station.  Your flight will take around an hour.  After landing enjoy a fabulous extensive bush breakfast with fellow flyers from your own and other balloons.

Day 4

You will know your guide by now so the night before discusses what you want to do today.  Maybe take a full day out with a picnic lunch or simple draw up a list of wildlife you have not seen yet or want to see once more to maximise this last game viewing day.

Day 5

If you are in the main Mara Reserve, you will have a leisurely breakfast, check out and be transported to your local airstrip for your flight back to Nairobi Wilson.  If you are in a conservancy, you may wish to take one last game drive this morning before breakfast and check out.

Once back in Nairobi, you are well placed for any onward journey you wish.  Perhaps head to Uganda or Rwanda for a Gorilla Trek – speak to your team for inspiration.

If you are going on to the Kenya coast, there are options to fly directly there rather than back through Nairobi

Luggage Restriction: Soft Sided Bags only, with max weight of 15kg. If you are heading onwards to a beach location or other safari adventure, your main luggage can be stored for you during this trip.
