  • Visit Damajagua and hike across its narrow passages and suspension bridges, zipline over the forest canopies, and cool off with a dip in the natural pools of the caverns.
  • Soak in the sun and Caribbean beats at one of the city's brilliant beaches.

And for those who love the roar of an engine, there are also rentable ATVs for countryside journeys through the quant Dominican villages. Plus, for anyone wishing to witness the beauty of Puerto Plata from on high, they can visit the top of Mount Pico Isabel de Torres, made easily accessible by a cable car.

For anyone who loves both natural and historic beauty, there are plenty of ways to indulge in the rich environment of San Juan.

Day 5   St. Croix, US Virgin Islands

Providing a historic, scenic adventure, the U.S. Virgin Island of St. Croix is filled with landmarks that whisper tales of its colonial past. Travellers can take a walking tour of one of the island's main towns, Frederiksted, where the guide will point out the cultural, the architectural, and the just plain must-see highlights of this charming waterfront town.

For nature lovers, there is also the destination's nearby island, Buck Island, which adventurers can visit by boarding a 32-foot Boston Whaler powerboat with up to twelve other members of their party. Buck Island Reef National Monument is filled with underwater trails for snorkelling, and the island's beach and observation deck provide great opportunities to admire the stunning surroundings.

On top of all this, here are some of the other wonderful things to do at St. Croix:

  • Visit the waterfront town of Christiansted and admire even more of St. Croix's awe-inspiring colonial heritage.
