Also look for zelena menestra on the menu – it’s a simple dish with meat, potatoes and cabbage that traces back to the Konavle region. Olives play a huge part in Dubrovnik’s foodie culture, and you may even see thousand-year-old olive trees, whilst a day trip to the Peljesac peninsula will introduce you to Croatia’s decadent wines.
The Old Town is steeped in history, and offers a charming view of terracotta roofs, glistening white marble streets and ornate water fountains dotted in the public squares.
