Enjoy opulence and tranquility

Straddling the border of three regions; Lombard (west), Veneto (east) and Alpine Trentino Alto-Adige (north), Lake Garda is Italy’s largest lake. Characterised by its impressive mountain backdrop and rich history, Lake Garda offers a luxury getaway filled with fabulous wines, scenic boat rides, a variety of architectural styles and beautiful vistas.

Take the time to visit Lake Garda’s stunning towns. Sirmione entices with its relaxing thermal pools and medieval castle, whilst picturesque Verona offers classy opera shows and a romantic ambience – it’s said to be the setting for Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. Mantua excites with its incredible Renaissance frescoes, or hop on a boat to visit Isola del Garda’s neo-Gothic Venetian villa.

Beyond the towns and islands, you’ll discover an astonishing landscape. Lake Garda is famous for its vibrant lemon orchards and olive groves, as well as wonderful vineyards and of course, truly tranquil lake vistas. There’s no doubt you’ll love the amazing views, and the sweet, slow lifestyle that comes with it.

Why visit Lake Garda?

·         Lake Garda is one of our favourite Italian destinations for wine tasting. Take the time to explore a number of vineyards and sample some of the best wines, including the light red Bardolino and the refreshing Soave white wine. Pair your wine with decadent pastas – our favourites including tortellini di valeggio – stuffed with meat and doused in butter and sage, and bigoli con le sarde – spaghetti teamed with freshwater sardines.

·         The landscape surrounded Lake Garda is nothing short of stunning. Crystalline waters are backed by impressive rugged mountains, adorned with quaint towns and sprinkled with hot pink bougainvillea. Lake Garda entices with its beautiful olive groves and citrus orchards that add a pop of yellow and orange to the verdant grounds. In the north you’ll find that the climate is a bit breezier, the perfect weather for water sports and exploring the harbour towns. Meanwhile, the south is flatter and warmer, and this is where you’ll find the sprawling vineyards.

·         Amidst the spectacular flora, you’ll find charming architecture that tells the tale of Lake Garda. The area was once conquered by the Venetians and then the Austria-Hungarian empire, only becoming part of Italy at the end of World War I. Discover old towns adorned with Venetian and Baroque architecture, explore ancient fortifications and castles from the Scaglieri era, and visit the neo-Gothic Venetian villa on Isola del Garda to get a true taste of Lake Garda’s varied past.
