• Portugese cuisine is divine, focusing on sensational seafood and using homegrown ingredients to make all the flavours pop. In Algarve, whet your appetite with Conquilhas à Algarvia - succulent clams cooked with Portugese sausage and a delicious creamy sauce, or stop by a local restaurant for Algarve's answer to tapas: petiscos de taberna. Whilst visiting Madeira, be sure to try black scabbard, a deep sea fish found only in a few places around the world, and end any meal with a sickly sweet Madeiran wine.
• Portugal's landscape, in Algarve and Madeira especially, is sensational. Madeira is shrouded in vibrant flora that looks as if it belongs in Hawaii, including hot pink bougainvillea, shady banana leaf plants and Birds of Paradise, whilst Algarve offers picturesque beaches with rugged cliff backdrops - venture further and you'll find little coves created by jaw-dropping structures.
