Sri Lanka Food Tour
Overview
Embark on an unforgettable six-night private guided journey through the flavours and heritage of Sri Lanka.
Begin in the bustling streets of Colombo, where a tantalising food walk introduces you to the rich tapestry of local spices, mouthwatering street food, and the stories behind every bite. In Dambulla, see how the locals live by joining them on a bull cart ride, a catamaran boat ride and a visit to a traditional mud house where you will help cook up a fantastic lunch feast! The adventure continues with the majestic elephants at Kaudulla National Park, the awe-inspiring beauty of Sigiriya Rock Fortress and the mystical Dambulla Cave Temple. Visit the Matale Spice Garden which is the most delightful place to stroll through fragrant greenery and learn about how spices grow. Finally, dive deep into the culinary heart of Kandy, sampling delicacies that have enchanted travellers for centuries and then cooking with a local cook in her beautiful home. Not forgetting of course, a visit to a tea factory after a stunning train ride! This tour is a feast for all senses, and you can continue the journey with a beautiful beach stay of your choosing - just give our team a call to discuss. (JW)
Rachel, our Head of Digital Marketing has recently returned from Sri Lanka having been lucky enough to enjoy this tour, "Wow what an amazing adventure! I had never been to Sri Lanka before and was really impressed with the quality of hotels, service and food. Our private guide was wonderful and nothing was too much trouble for him. It was just fabulous to be able to cook with the locals and taste the most delicious food. The views at the top of the Sigiriya Rock Fortress were well worth the climb up and it was incredible to hear the tales about King Kaysapa. Another highlight was walking around the food markets of Kandy and sampling all the different delicacies. I would definitely recommend ending the tour with a relaxing few days at a beach hotel".
