Things to do in Abu Dhabi

Yas Island

Yas Island is one of Abu Dhabi’s largest tourist developments. It is the location of the Formula 1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix circuit, which encircles the magnificent Yas Viceroy hotel. But there are two main tourist draws on the island. The first is Ferrari World, a theme featuring a racetrack, driving activities and three thrill rides, including the fastest rollercoaster in the world. The second is Yas Waterworld, a huge waterpark with over 40 rides, slides and attractions.

Desert safari

Desert safaris see you taking a ride into the desert for a number of activities. It will depend on the tour you book, but generally they include some combination of dune bashing, camel riding, sand skiing, quad biking and a meal.

Shopping

Abu Dhabi is a great destination for shopping. There are a number of shopping malls, including the massive Abu Dhabi Mall, as well as a number of smaller markets and souks, and plenty of independent stores scattered around.

Beaches

Many of Abu Dhabi’s luxurious beaches are private and owned by the hotels, so if you’re staying at a beach hotel, you should be set with plenty of space on the sand. If you’re not staying at one of these hotels, don’t despair, there are lots of public beaches here too. There is a public beach at the Corniche that is especially good. You’ll have to pay a small entrance fee, but the amenities are really worth it.
