Lapa Rios Lodge
Overview
Protecting 1,000 acres of Central America’s last tropical lowland rainforest, it’s safe to say that Lapa Rios Lodge is one of the most sustainable lodges in our portfolio. Tucked away on Costa Rica’s Osa Peninsula, everywhere you turn you’ll be met with exotic flora and views of the sparkling Golfo Dulce.
Translated to ‘river of scarlet macaws’ in English, the lodge was named after the unsurpassable sight the lodge’s founders were greeted with when they first arrived – an amazing view of macaws flying across the rainforest and creating a river of red. They can almost guarantee that you’ll see one of these vibrant birds during your stay, as well as the opportunity to encounter endangered monkeys and over 300 more bird species.
There are just 17 bungalows, creating a sense of exclusivity and seclusion. All the bungalows are designed to give you an amazing experience of bringing the outdoors in, and they have stunning views of the sunrise, too.
Lapa Rios immerses you in this luscious, untouched rainforest, offering splendid hikes, bird watching and sustainability tours. The food is locally sourced and organic too, and you can even enjoy a three-course lunch right by a waterfall.
We really love this eco-lodge, and we think it offers a sensational experience that everyone should enjoy at least once.
